11.026:  National Trade Data Bank (NTDB)

Objectives:  The National Trade Data Bank is a comprehensive source of international economic trade data from over 50 U.S. Government agencies. Included within the NTDB is the Commercial Service International Contacts (CSIC), an extensive list of foreign companies that are interested in establishing trade links with U.S. companies and importing their products. The data on the NTDB also are available on the STAT-USA/Internet.

11.026 PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

The NTDB began operating in August 1990 and is currently available to the public at 1,091 Federal Depository Libraries nationwide, as well as through purchase and subscription. Currently over 120 program titles make up the disc, including market research, country profiles, export and import statistics, foreign business contacts, and export "how-to" guides. Each CD-ROM and the internet site contain access and display software as well as the complete, up-to-date databank.

Type of Assistance:  Dissemination of Technical Information.

Obligations:  Note: The Economics and Statistics Administration/STAT-USA operates a revolving fund for the payment of expenses incurred in the electronic dissemination of data, including the acquisition and public sale of domestic, Federally-funded and foreign business, trade, and economic information.

Budget Account Number:  13-1500-0-1-376.

Authorization:  Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988, 15 U.S.C. 4901 et. seq., 15 U.S.C. 1527a.

Regulations, Guidelines, and Literature:  NTDB CD-ROM: Annual subscription (12 monthly issues) is $575.00, and single monthly discs are $59.00. Prices for shipments to foreign addresses are $775.00 for an annual subscription and $75.00 for a single monthly issue. STAT-USA/Internet subscriptions are $150.00 annually or $50.00 quarterly. Uses and Use Restrictions:  Statistical information used by Federal, State and local agencies, businesses, industries, educational institutions and the general public. It contains over 300,000 documents and is released monthly in a Compact Disc-Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) format. It can be used on any IBM-compatible personal computer equipped with an ISO 9660 CD-ROM reader and is "Windows" based. The NTDB also is disseminated through the STAT-USA/Internet on web site www.stat-usa.gov.
