Popular Name:  Cataloging Data Distribution

Objectives:  To distribute cataloging and bibliographic information in the form of magnetic tapes, Internet distribution, microforms, CD-ROM's, book catalogs, and other technical publications to Government agencies, libraries and other institutions and individuals. This enables them to utilize the Library of Congress cataloging and avoid costly cataloging in their own institutions.

42.003 PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

In fiscal year 1999, the Cataloging Distribution Service sold 1,855 annual catalog subscriptions, 28,941 technical publications, and 222 annual subscriptions on order for MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging Data) magnetic tapes, and 4,015 CD-ROM subscriptions.
